The Caribbean Youth Empowerment Foundation was formed by a team of young educators passionate about making a change in education, sports development and environmental awareness. We aim to bring awareness, provide resources and find solutions for the youth in our community to excel in their passions.

Trustee — Finance & Education

Chris is an experienced financial analyst and mathematics tutor, bringing rigorous financial oversight and a deep commitment to educational equity to the CYEF board.

Brandon Dowell

Trustee — Education & Mentorship

Brandon is a lifelong educator and the owner of Bright Sparks Education. He focuses on teaching professional development to youth to empower them with skills to achieve excellence.

Shaunice Weatherhead

Trustee — Special Needs Education

Shaunice is an experienced English teacher with a specialisation in special needs children. She is passionate about helping those who need it most, aiding kids with learning difficulties across Barbados.

What We Do

Five Programs, One Common Purpose

Each initiative is designed with Caribbean youth at the centre — creating real, lasting change in their lives and communities.

Education For All
Program 01

Free Reading Program

We partner with local educators and schools along with various volunteers to help students learn to read. We believe that reading is critical to academic success and educators are noticing an increase in students with reading difficulties.

Thus far, our reading programme has been aiding students mainly in the St. Michael area and we aim to expand throughout the island.

Improve literacy rates among underserved youth in Barbados

Back-to-School Donation Drive

We host a donation drive to raise funds for back-to-school supplies. These supplies are then donated to families who are in need. Through the drives we not only aid the community, we also interact with the children and empower families.

Think Football

Think Football is a programme which combines education and sport. The aim is to teach students educational concepts through football.

We partner with local football coach Redman Coaching and education institution Bright Sparks Education to help numerous kids improve their Maths and Football skills yearly.
